Methods

My art is based upon the concept of
seeing and feeling, then making a visual statement. A mix of considered
and intuitive action combining and contrasting marks and movement,
solids and space, textures and colours.
An inspiration, a pre-glimpsed image and then the developing piece in
its own entity. Risks and surprises occur, especially with some of the
techniques I have explored.
Landscapes and seascapes with their powerful natural forms, people and
the places they visit interest me. I work from sketching and
photographs, or complete a painting at the site. It is important to
relate original feelings to what is developing on my easel.
I tend to record a number of angles, images and examples of what
interests me. This then moves into groups of paintings as seen in my
gallery section.
I am beginning to use digital photography and editing - cropping, and
enlarging, printouts are useful to trial issues aiding decision making.
